The Gardener’s or Florist’s Apron is a favorite here at the farm, also called a garden smock, it is an easy way to make sure you have all you need in the garden, on the farm or in the florists shop. With handy pockets for all the gardener or florist has to store, and a layer of protection for clothes, it it a must have for every day use. This is our most popular item in the store and we get many inquiries on this florist garden item. Here are some quick questions we get asked about our Garden Aprons:

  The Gardener's Apron is typically made of waxed canvas to protect your clothese from water and keep it from ripping when out in the garden or floral shop. The canvss apron is cool and typically more comfortable than leather and stronger than plain cotton.

  Quality garden/florists work aprons are made from medium weight waxed canvas, and have a variety of pocket sizes that are double stitched for durability and holding power. Beware of drop shipped suppliers that send directly from China as these are typically low quality. We have tested and wear our aprons on our flower farm.

  Aprons are hard to size, so its best to look for ones that have adjustable straps that can be set to any length to fit most people.

  What features should I look for in a florist or gardening apron?

  It should have at least 3 pockets, a garden scissor holder, pockets for a pruner and today, definitely a pocket for the phone. Many have added a towel holder for easy access and cleanup. Adjustable straps are key, and the waxed canvas garden apron is the best and most durable.

  Some would say the more pockets on an apron, the better. Too many pockets mean weight, and back problems ;). One large pocket, a pocket for you primary tool and a phone pocket are plenty. A towel holder is nice, and that's about it for our recommendation on the florist's or gardener's apron pocket requirement.

  We prefer a medium weight waxed canvas for our aprons used on the farm, garden and floral shop. It sheds water and dirt, can be easily cleaned and is breathable in the hot summer. It also allows for strong pockets on the apron, solid straps and durability. There are other materials in use out there, like light cotton and leather, they just dont fit all our needs for the job our aprons do here on the farm.
